Introduction & First Steps
Welcome, Ruler!
Welcome to the world of AI Kingdom. You are the sovereign of a nascent realm, and its fate rests entirely in your hands. You will command armies, manage a complex economy, engage in diplomacy with other player-run kingdoms, and navigate the intrigues of your own royal court. Your primary tools are your words and your wisdom, which you will use to command your council of AI-powered ministers.
The Goal of the Game
Your ultimate goal is to lead your kingdom to prosperity and power. You must manage your resources, maintain social stability, build a strong army, and navigate the complex world of diplomacy and espionage. The game ends when your kingdom is completely conquered by another player or when you go bankrupt.
Your First Steps: A Quick Start Guide
Feeling overwhelmed? Follow these simple steps to begin your reign.
-
Meet Your Council: Your primary interface is the Council of Ministers on the left. Click on each minister's portrait to select them and type your commands in the chat box below.
-
Check Your Resources: Your key resources are Gold, Population, and Social Stability. You will learn about these through your ministers' reports.
-
Issue Your First Command: Select the Minister of Finance. In the chat input box, type a simple, safe order like:
"What is our current tax rate?"
and press Send.
-
Review Your Memorials & Treaties: The middle and right columns show important events. Royal Memorials are problems that require your attention. Diplomacy shows your treaties with other rulers.
-
Explore the World: Click the "Map" button in the top-right navigation bar to see your kingdom and your neighbors.
The Living World: How Time Passes
The world of AI Kingdom is always moving, even when you are offline. Time in the game passes in discrete units called "ticks". Each tick represents 5 minutes of in-game time.
When Does the Game Update?
The game calculates all the progress you missed (all the ticks that have passed) and updates your kingdom's status the moment you log in and load the main game screen. It compares the current time with the last time you were online and processes all corresponding events at once.
Why You Should Log In Daily: The Limits of Offline Progress
Logging in at least once a day is crucial for the prosperity of your kingdom due to two important limits:
- The 24-Hour Tick Limit: The game engine will only process a maximum of 288 ticks at one time, which is equivalent to exactly 24 hours of offline progress. If you are offline for 3 days, you will only receive the resources and progress for the most recent 24 hours. The other 2 days of potential progress are lost forever!
- The 10 Memorial Limit: Your court can only hold a maximum of 10 unresolved Royal Memorials. If your queue is full, no new events or problems will be generated for you to solve, causing you to miss out on valuable rewards and story content.
What Happens During a Tick?
Every 5 minutes of game time, the following calculations occur automatically:
Your income and army upkeep are calculated, and your gold is updated.
Your social stability changes based on taxes and population.
Your population grows (or shrinks, if conditions are poor).
There is a chance for rebels to spawn if stability is low.
There is a chance for random events to be generated, such as new Memorials, the appearance of a treasure chest, or a dragon attack.
